Trying a $700 Lifting Cream?!

It seems natural to have high expectations for a product with a high price tag, so needless to say, my hopes were through the roof after accepting an offer from D’or 24K to test their Non-Surgical Lifting Innovation Syringe! At $700 for 0.5 oz. this is something one hopes to see immediate results from using — and good heavens is that what I got! While I personally cannot justify spending that amount on a face cream with my (still young!) 29 year old skin, I can definitely see the benefit for someone who is nearing 40 or 50 and considering alternatives to that impending first face lift or botox injection! The most magical part about this cream was the IMMEDIATE effect. It’s almost worth the price just to experience watching your face Benjamin Button 10 years! For me, that meant seeing my 17 year old face again, and lord was it trippy! You can see from the photo below the obvious difference in the before and after appearance of my skin.  My mouth is drawn into a teeth-displaying smile after applying the product, and my lines aren’t half as pronounced as the left-side-closed-mouth smile, before application! I did not use any filters on these photos, and all the ‘selfie’ settings on my phone’s camera were off. In both photos I am standing in my home office, in front of a ring light.

For $700 I also expected a killer presentation (I’m a sucker for beautiful branding and thoughtfully-designed packaging!) and I loved that the product arrived in a gold embossed, white linen box with a magnetic closure, while the cream itself was cleverly packaged in a syringe tube of metallic gold, nestled in a velvet holder. This box has already found itself a permanent home on my vanity! This is the sort of product you buy for the person who has everything or is an avid luxury beauty product collector. This reminded me of the time I purchased the Dior Garden Palette in 2013 ($75) just because I was in love with the compact (I still haven’t used it!), and the more recent, ($60) Rose blush by Lancome that every beauty blogger choked over purchasing but is secretly holding at night, while smiling and whispering, “my precious” into the dark! 😂

Below is the description and instructions on the D’or 24K website for using the syringe cream:

Do not use lotion or a liquid makeup product. You may apply powder makeup. A white layer on the face means you have applied too much. Smooth over any white areas with a damp finger. Close jar tightly after using to prevent the cream from drying. Note: in the rare instances you may experience an allergic reaction. If this occurs, wash the product from your face.
Water, Sodium Silicate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Green Tea, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol.”

I personally found all of their claims to be true. I think I would have seen a more dramatic difference If I had more lines, wrinkles or sagging skin to correct! I’m lucky I don’t have major skin issues yet, but I do believe this product is meant for someone with more mature skin than I have, so I hope they send this product to some beauty bloggers in their 30s and 40s to really showcase its abilities.

D'or 24K Prestige Non-Surgical Eye Lifting Cream

If you have a wedding, high school reunion, or other major event coming up, where you’re going to see a lot of friends/family you haven’t seen in awhile, THAT is the time to use this cream if you’re my age! I’m sure if I continued using it for months and purchased more syringes, there would be a lasting difference, but using this as a special occasion ‘treat’ for my skin seems a little more reasonable in my late 20s (here’s looking at you, 40! I’m not quite there yet)!

So what do you think? Would (or have you?!) invested in a ridiculously expensive beauty product? What was it like?!
