I tried something a little different for this shoot! Usually fashion bloggers take a very specific style of photo… You’ve seen them on every popular fashion blog: Bright, crisp, sharp, and definitely shot with a very new camera. I stick with that crisp, clean, bright style when I’m shooting DIYs, tutorials and makeup looks, but when it comes to fashion posts y’all know I’m a little eclectic in my taste! For this vintage, 1960s inspired Holiday party look, showcasing some pieces from Happiness Boutique in Germany, I decided to try to make my photos look as if they were actually taken in the 60s. I used old photographs of my Grandmother from the 1960s as inspiration when I was editing. I also placed 2 different, vintage camera lenses over my phone’s camera lens to get some of the shots and try to imitate the printed film look.
My go-to Holiday party style is a killer black dress, some fabulous heels, and sparkly statement jewelry like these gorgeous pieces from Happiness Boutique.
I had a cobbler attach leather loops to the heels of these pumps so I could wear them with ankle ribbons. Small personalized details that a tailor or cobbler can add will elevate even the most inexpensive of outfits. I also altered the neckline of this dress from a scoop style to a V to elongate the neck and create a space for wearing my favorite necklaces.
No 1960s look is complete without big lashes and bigger hair!
The bottom right photo in the collage above is my absolute favorite! The dust on the film almost looks like confetti.
I hope you enjoyed this look! What is your go-to Holiday party style?
