I hope y’all aren’t tired of my @jen_of_all_trades manicure updates because I love posting them! Even though this isn’t the usual post (where I show you how to DIY something!) it still lends to creativity and inspiration! What better way to get inspired than to look at creative nail art, right?! I always get great ideas for all kinds of projects after browsing unique, brightly hue-ed manicure designs on Pinterest, and I’m sure I’m not the only girl who does this! For April I knew I wanted something Easter themed with my monthly manicure, and after creating this year’s bunny-centric Easter blog content I wanted to stay with the bunny theme! I texted Jen a couple of photos to get our creative juices flowing. Our design is a shellac gel manicure, and Jen drew the half-moon on each nail, as well as the tiny bunny faces, by hand. One of the reasons I chose the half-moon on each nail is so that my manicure lasts longer! I first asked for a negative space at the base of each nail with last month’s mani (which I didn’t blog because it was so simple, but I absolutely loved it because it’s so my style). By leaving the base of the nail blank you can’t tell when the nail starts growing out. There’s nothing worse than a chic nail design having to be re-done or removed before it’s time because it’s growing out! My nails grow unusually fast (yes, I am lucky!), however Jen’s manicures typically last about 4 weeks for me, so it’s always such a shame when I must have the beautiful designs removed just because they’re growing out! Hence, my sneaky little trick of leaving a little shaped space at the base for the nail to grow so I can enjoy the manicure longer! I chose a rose-pink color for all the nails, except the ring fingers, because it’s such a pretty shade for Spring, and is an easy neutral to wear with anything. Each little bunny face is dark gray with white eyes and inner-ears, and a matching pink nose. Aren’t they the cutest thing?!

To see more of Jen’s work, visit her on Instagram @Jen_of_all_trades. To book an appointment visit Parlour 3 in Brentwood, Tennessee, call (615) 942-9020 (Tell them Rachel sent you!) or go online at Parlour3.com. Jen also does incredible makeup, brow shaping and brow microblading!

Emeralds & Opals Winter Manicure

A stunning manicure concept inspired by emeralds and opals by my favorite celebrity stylist, Jen Tsourvakas!

We started with a deep green base topped with micro glitter and opalescent paper shards and finished with a natural white base on the ring finger covered in iridescent micro glitter. To book a manicure with Jen, call Parlour 3 in Brentwood, TN and tell them Rachel sent you!

Jen was so incredibly patient with me on this design! I *kind of* (not really) had an idea of what I wanted and she created this look based on my requests for “THE PERFECT green, and some glitter, but maybe like 2-3 different colors and for sure some iridescent paper shards, but I don’t know what shape I want them in, maybe triangles? Maybe like broken glass looking? For sure I want some white too, like to represent snow?” Bless her heart!😂

August Favorites

August Favorites Round-Up

Welcome to my August favorites round-up! This post is not sponsored in any way and I’m reviewing these products without prior compensation from any company. I think by now y’all know how much I love to share a good deal or product, so I hope you find something new to try today! (Links to purchase items will be at the end of this post).

August Favorites Round-Up

My first August favorite is the clip-on selfie ring light by Genuine Ingenious! Pros: There are three, graduating illumination settings for super low-light situations — gotta get that light ring in you iris even if it’s the middle of the night! The wide clip allows the ring light to be attached to a phone with a huge, protective case (like my Otter Box!) and even fits over a case and the front-facing camera on my MacBook. Cons: It would be nice if the designer took into consideration that not all front-facing cameras are in the center of the device. For example, my Android phone has a right-side camera which means the ring light has to be attached to the corner of my phone so as to not cover up the camera! It’s only a mild inconvenience, but still annoying as it makes things a tad awkward! I’ve been using it for 90% of my selfies anyway! The selfie light is also super convenient for on-the-go face-timing in a darker room, or if you want to film a video on your laptop for uploading to YouTube or Facebook without spending a ton on lighting equipment!

On to item number two! The NYX Born to Glow Illuminating Primer has quickly become my favorite primer. I’m on my 3rd tube now! I’ve never re-purchased a primer this many times before. You can see me wearing it in the photos in this post. It creates a natural, from-within glow that only truly comes from healthy skin, and it builds the perfect foundation for all my makeup. It doesn’t sink into my pores, crease or flake, even after wearing it all day and sleeping on it! (yes, sometimes I sleep in my makeup — bad, I know!). I don’t have any cons to list for this product — It’s $14 and currently available at Target and Ulta stores as well as NYX online.

August Favorites Round-Up

I’m a hair-care junkie. If it promises thicker, longer, fuller, shiner anything, I’ll try it! I’m on my 2nd bottle of Sugar Bear Hair gummies and I can honestly say they’ve made a huge difference. I had head hair growth in areas that have been “sparse” for 10  years (noticeably around my temples and hairline). I can’t say that your results will be the same, but I’m certainly a believer! As with any supplement, ask your doctor first if they think it’s safe for you to take. As far as hair care supplements go I think they’re on the moderately less expensive side. The most I’ve seen them listed for is a 30-day supply for $33 on Amazon.

What sort of Southerner would I be if I didn’t include a Kendra Scott item on my favorites?! It’s not hard to continuously have a new KS fave though! I pretty much had a heart attack when I saw the new Fall collection and the subsequent Nail Polish line that released last week. Of course Kendra makes lacquers to match her best selling stones — Smart woman! I snagged up a Rose Gold polish (shown above), along with a new rose gold drusy bracelet to add to my addiction collection 🙂 I’m planning on taking the polish over to Jen at Parlour 3 to have her create something gorgeous on my nails ASAP! I’ll definitely ‘gram the results for y’all! Who else is obsessed and happy with the current rose-gold trend?

August Favorites Round-Up

Last, but not least, I have to rave over this darling disco ball tumbler with a light pink straw from Hunter Paige Salon! You’ve probably seen it a few times on my Facebook & Instagram, sparkling alluringly from the corner of a few photos! I just can’t even handle how happy it makes me every time I see it — I plan on getting a total of 6 to keep on my bar at all times! (They’re so darling as bridesmaid’s gifts! Check out blogger Hunter Schleicher’s post for cute photos of her “proposing” to her bridal party!) If you’re thinking of getting some of these cups bear in mind they are delicate and should be hand-washed so none of that gorgeous silver metallic finish scratches off.

Web.com Tour | Nashville Golf Open

I will be taking over the Andrews Cadillac Instagram on Saturday, June 18th to live cover the Web.com Tour: Nashville Golf Open! I’m really excited to endorse this event because it brings a 5-year agreement to The Nashville Golf & Athletic Club through the PGA, which means yet another boost to the Brentwood economy. Nashville is growing at a rapid pace, we have a lot to be proud of, and it’s always a good thing to have an athletic event bring a community together — which is where Andrews Cadillac comes in. This luxury car dealership has been a part of the Brentwood/Nashville community since the Summer of 1979 and contributes to many charitable organizations and projects, including the Nashville Golf Open. Read more about how this event is directly helping our community by positively impacting young people through golf and the game’s positive core values like sportsmanship, respect, honesty and perseverance through The First Tee of Middle Tennessee, HERE.
