DIY Preppy Leather Back Statement Earrings

My love for statement earrings dates back to my 13th birthday when I was *finally* allowed to get my ears pierced! For the last 16 years, I’ve been adding to my ear bob collection and some of my favorite pieces are ones I designed or DIY-ed myself! After seeing THIS pair of earrings, I knew I had to attempt my own “inspired by” version to share with y’all! You can make these earrings with any color combination your heart desires and the best part is they pack a huge statement-making punch without hanging too heavily on your earlobes or your wallet! DIY Mother's Day Story Book Gift with American Greetings

Mother’s Day has always been one of the most joyous holidays to celebrate in my family! My brothers and I are beyond lucky to have a Mother who has been unconditionally there for us through every stage of our lives, and every year we love having a day to make it all about her! At different stages in our story of life one or more of us hasn’t always been nearby to celebrate with her, but we always pause for a moment on that day to contact her so she knows we are thinking of her. As I’ve grown older I’ve enjoyed learning about the person she was before she became a Mother. Being a Mother to 4 children is only a small part of who she is as a person, and this Mother’s Day I wanted to create something that reflects the story of her life through my eyes in a memorable way!

I Cut Up Two Pieces of Clothing from the Victoria Beckham Target Collection!

I can’t remember the last time I purchased a piece of clothing (used or new) without altering it in some way! I love re-designing clothes so they’re uniquely mine. If you’ve been reading this blog long It’s probably not surprising to discover I had something special planned as soon as I saw what the Victoria Beckham x Target collaboration looked like! From the minute I laid eyes on the scallop sleeve blouse and the shoulder bow dress I knew there was no way I’d wear them as-is off the rack, and I’d enjoy cutting them up!

DIY Steeplechase Derby Hat Tutorial

Because I don’t really have a horse in this race I can’t justify spending hundreds on a Derby hat every year, but that doesn’t mean I can’t at least look as if I did! You’ll probably recognize the hat shown in today’s DIY from last year’s Steeplechase post. I think I paid about $40 for that hat at Stein Mart, which is more than I like to pay for something I’m only planning on wearing only for a few hours! I decided this year I would just give that same hat a makeover and save my $$$ for the lobster roll truck at the Race!
