HOW I GREW LONGER, THICKER LASHES

How to grow and maintain, long, thick, healthy lashes!

I’ve always been pretty lucky to have healthy lashes, but after having lash extensions for 9 months  they just didn’t look as luscious as before! I loved having lash extensions, but they’re a lot of work to maintain and after a while it just didn’t feel worth it to me anymore. I’m horrible at applying false lashes though, and my last resort for having the voluminous, wispy, glamorous lashes of my dreams, was growing them myself! I employed the following three steps for growing out my lashes and am so happy with the results I had to share my secrets!

October Favorites

I’ve kept pretty quiet about a few of the items in this month’s “favorites” round-up because I wanted to give myself ample time to make sure I really liked them before jumping on the band-wagon and suggesting you all run out and buy them! The items in this round-up I’ve put to the test for between 2 – 7 weeks, so rest assured if I say I like them I truly do!

Let’s jump right in starting with the biggest thing on the list!

  1. LV Neverfull tote from Tradesy: This item will probably warrant its on blog/video but for now, since I’ve gotten so many questions about it, I’ll give y’all my secrets on this bag! I did a LOT of research before choosing to buy from Tradesy (I already knew I wanted the Neverfull – that’s another story for another time!). Their policies speak for themselves, and after researching the seller that had the bag I wanted, I felt 100% confident in purchasing. My trust was not misplaced because I received exactly what I hoped for and expected! The seller I purchased from deals exclusively in Louis Vuitton products and her buyer feedback is unparalleled, as is her collection for sale. If you’re thinking of investing in a Louie I would suggest checking her out. Also, If you use THIS link to sign up, and make any purchases on Tradesy, we both get $$$ to spend on whatever we want on Tradesy! (Seriously though, use that referral link because I have my eye on an LV Keepall 60 Monogram!) The seller I used was “Cassidy’s Closet” @Cassidy.

2. Vince Camuto Melaya OTK Boots. These boots should be dubbed “The Blogger Boot” because I swear somehow we all have them now! But I know why and it’s because they fit EVERYBODY! I know, I thought it was too good to be true also… an OTK boot that looks good on tall and short people and fits thicker calves?! This boot is the unicorn of OTK boots. Just a little note: As far as I can tell they run about a 1/2 size small, and I found this to be true for myself as well. But once you size up that 1/2 size you’re golden! The material is luxurious and supple, the fit is comfortable and the heel is just tall enough without being uncomfortable even after walking for a few hours. They’re easy to get on and off and mine were completely broken in after wearing them for about an hour. They’re a Nordstrom exclusive and you can still snag them on back order HERE for $179. I have the gray suede version and just ordered the ‘bark’ color because I love them that much!

3. Eyelash extensions! It’s been a 1.5 year-long journey for me to get to this stage! Eyelash extensions have grown increasingly popular over the last 5 years, and I’ve always been intrigued by the concept, but I never saw anyone whose lashes looked really great with extensions! I think as time has passed the method and tools have gotten better. They’re so good in fact now that I finally took the plunge! I went to a HEAVILY referred lash artist at Hunter Paige in Brentwood, TN. All the it-girls get their lashes done by Beth, and I am not exaggerating when I say she’s in high demand, so make sure you try to book her a few weeks in advance of when you want your full set of lashes put in! I had no idea what getting lash extensions was really like so here are my 3 top tips: 1. Get comfortable! Seriously, take off your shoes, bring a blanket, you’re going to be laying down in the same position for at least 2 hours during which you cannot open your eyes! 2. Do a little Pinterest search before hand to find out what shape lashes you want. I had no idea there are as many variations as there are eyebrow or nail shapes to choose from! 3. Ask lots of questions and follow your lash tech’s tips to the letter if you want to make this investment worth your time and money.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario I will be doing a video tutorial using this palette and showing y’all what it’s like doing a full eye look with eyelash extensions, but for now I had to say how much I adore this palette! It truly reminds me of the a Viseart palette. The Master Palette has a good mix of trendy and classic “must” shades for creating everything from really intense, vamp smokey eye to a delicate, floral inspired wedding-day look. There’s only one sort of powdery shade that had a little fall-out but honestly I’m pretty sure it was my brush’s fault! Every color had impressive initial pigmentation and beautiful build-ability that makes for some pretty intense Fall looks I’ve been rocking on Insta lately! For the level of quality, the variety of colors you get, and because you get 12 different shades, I think the $45 price tag is worth it. I use at least 1-2 colors from this palette every time I do my makeup.

5. Jacyln Hill for BECCA Champagne Pop Highlighter (see this in action above as well!) For years I’ve used whatever shimmery eye shadow was in my current favorite palette to dust a little highlight on my cheek bones, but recently I started watching Jacyln Hill’s YouTube channel and saw people were NOT kidding around when they raved over her signature highlight, developed with Becca! I don’t think the color is necessarily ground-breaking, but the staying power and the light-reflecting level is almost magical! I noticed it didn’t lose its shine even after dusting with a matte setting spray. Also, I used a super cheap-o brush to apply it and even that didn’t have any effect on it’s abilities to do its job! Since you only need the tiniest dusting I predict this one lasting me at least a year (even thought I use it every day now!) so I personally think it’s worth $38 (and y’all know I love my drugstore makeup!) You can get it HERE.

6. NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in “Minimalism” Y’all seriously thought I’d have an entire ‘favorites’ round-up without mentioning NYX?! Okay, you knew I would 🙂 But I think we can all agree by now they’re a lipstick addicts fantasy in terms of trying every color imaginable without going bankrupt! My latest favorite is “Minimalism,” an almost plum under toned mauve-buff shade that feels like angel kisses on my lips, it’s so incredibly buttery and soft! You can easily wear this one unlined because of the forgiving formula but if you wear it lined use NYX SPL860 “Peekaboo Neutral” lip pencil to match perfectly. Get it HERE for $6
