It’s truly incredible how much our young country has been through after 241 years in existence. Much has impacted our current trajectory, and while most of it is our own doing, we would not be who we are without the support and loyalty of our allies. Through all of our growing pains the people and country of France have been there for us, from acknowledging our sovereignty and becoming a military ally in our fight for British independence, to gifting us our beautiful Lady Liberty over 100 years later. We would not be who were are if it were not for France. I wanted to do a little something different than most blogger’s annual July 4th inspired outfit post, so I hope you enjoy this little French-inspired look on America’s birthday!
I don’t know about you but I always seem to have less time on my hands as Summer progresses! I seriously started thinking about my 4th of July plans and menu less than a week ago and now I’m scrambling to play catch-up before the weekend! Innovation is usually born of necessity and this recipe is no exception! This flavor-packed twist on the classic Southern Chicken Biscuit staple is sure to be a favorite with grown-ups as well as kids (and especially you Mamas and hostesses!) because it’s ridiculously easy to throw together! Grab the ingredients from the nearest Kroger or Walmart, give yourself about 30 minutes for prep + bake time, and you’re DONE!
It’s freebie #DressYourTech time again! My cousin-in-law, @danidee44, posted THIS quote on Instagram recently that inspired the first wallpaper you’ll see below… it’s a little reminder to love yourself enough to be whatever you want, every day, even if it changes day to day, even if it scares you.
I don’t want give away any surprises, but I have to admit I snagged a few things from this list to gift my BFF for this Galentine’s Day, so you know I’m serious when I tell you I love these picks! Do you exchange Valentine’s Day gifts with your bestie or just your significant other? I’d love to hear about your special V-Day traditions!
Today I’m going to show you an insanely simple tutorial for creating adorable sequin covered heart clips that can be used for topping gifts, hanging as pretty decorations, dressing up a blazer or styling a pretty updo!
- Felt squares
- Felt glue
- needle / thread (that matches felt)
- slung sequin trim
- miscellaneous metal finding such as gator clips, shoe clips or safety pins with a flat back.
First, cut out your heart shape. You can free-hand this or simply search Google for ‘heart shape’. There are literally hundreds in every shape and size you can easily print out to use as a template.
Next, choose whether you’re going to glue or sew your slung sequin trim down. You can use straight pins to hold the sequins in place if you choose to sew them down. Simply go through the front to the back of the heart, catching the thread in between every 2-3 sequins as you go. This method is a bit more time consuming but looks very pretty.
Start on the outside edges of the heart and spiral the sequin trim until you reach the center and all areas have been covered.
After your sequins are finished drying (or you’re done sewing), flip the heart over. Cut out a smaller heart to fit on the back. This is where you’ll attached any metal findings like gator clips, shoe clips, or pins. Attach the metal findings to the smaller heart first then attached to the back of the sequined heart.
Et Voila! Finished! See, I told you it would be easy 😉 So what sort of things would you decorate sequin hearts with? I think this would also be so cute clipped onto a head band or pinned to the front of your favorite clutch for some instant Valentine’s Day sparkle on date night!
