Fitness Gear for Fashion Girls

Fitness & Workout Gear for Fashion Minded Chicks

As someone who isn’t a fan of bright colors, or giving up my fashion style identity while working out, it’s difficult to find fitness gear that reflects my personality! I understand the psychology behind eye catching fitness clothing (i.e. bright colors = happier mood!) but it’s the opposite case for me! When faced with bright colors I become discombobulated and unfocused, thus making my workouts less effective! I need calm tones, muted shades and a sense of serenity when working out. Recently I started the hunt for “the perfect” workout outfits for myself and realized there are probably a lot of fashion-minded girls like me who don’t wear brightly colored clothing, and as a result, don’t see the point in wearing them to exercise! After lots of searching I’ve found some great pieces and had to share with y’all! I’m watching the post office box for mine to arrive and am already so excited for everything to finally be matching! A few sets of matching, good quality exercise outfits are one of those “30 before 30” things everyone should have on their to-do list! Since I’m nearing 29 now is as good a time as ever!

5 Places I Score Luxury Brands at a Fraction of the Price

If you’re like me you consider fashion to be an art form. And just like an exceptional painting by a master artist, high end fashion carries it’s own price tag. Owning luxury fashion labels isn’t so much about the prestige for me as it is about feeling like I’m part of something amazing. Carrying a Chanel bag is like looking at the Eiffel Tower for the first time… And those are things I will never forget! Nothing compares and nobody is going to argue that. For many luxury brand admirers it is not feasible or fiscally responsible to drop $3k on something you’re going to wear on your feet or carry under your arm. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a taste of the real thing though! I’ve rounded up a list of my top 5 places to score luxury brands at insane discounts. These shops are 100% reputable and I’ve personally shopped at all of them with great experiences.

Luxury Goods For Less

No. 1 The Real Real

Get $25 off your first purchase when you create an account + Use code ‘COOL’ for an additional 20% through 8/25 (some restrictions apply)

They have: Men’s | Women’s | Jewelry | Art

The Real Real is a luxury consignment shop where you get up to 70% of whatever your item sells for if you’re consigning. For $5 a month as a buyer, get 24-hour advance access to sales and special invitations to monthly promotions. This is a great service if you’re looking for something specific that’s hard to find. They have everything from Tory Burch to Rolex. Sometimes items even go on discount from what they were originally listed at! I scored a $225 Clare V. clutch for $19. Insane.

No. 2 The Runway At TJMaxx

10% off the first day you shop with a TJX store card + points towards rewards certificates every time you shop

They have: Men’s | Women’s | Home

The Runway at TJMaxx is the luxury portion of TJMaxx online. They have brand new items, typically at least 25% off or more, and carry Valentino, Louboutin and Fendi, to name a few. As far as jewelry goes, I’ve seen designer costume jewelry but not real gemstones. This may just be when I was shopping though so keep your eyes peeled! Luxury Goods For Less

No. 3 Luxury Garage Sale

They have: Men’s | Women’s | Jewelry| Vintage

Luxury Garage Sale is a lot like The Real Real except they also carry vintage items. These are all gently, barely or not used items at all (the listing for an item will say if it’s NWT). Some luxury brands depreciate when they hit ‘vintage’ status but you’re still getting the quality craftsmanship and brand name, so it’s a win-win to pay less! This shop carries literally hundreds of designers.

No. 4 Rent The Runway Clearance

They have: Women’s clothing, accessories, bags and costume jewelry

You may know Rent the Runway as a luxury rental service but they also clearance some of their pieces into rotation retirement. The pieces are still in excellent condition but it’s a bit like purchasing a consignment piece in that you know it won’t come in all the original packaging with tags and never have been worn outside the dressing room. But when you’re paying $40 for a Monique Lhuillier cocktail dress I don’t think you’re be complaining! As I’m writing this post I see they have some TIBI, Badgley Mischka and Kate Spade pieces for under $100, to name a few… and those were just dresses in my size! Luxury Goods For Less

No. 5 My Habit by Amazon

Get free shipping on $99+ with Prime membership

They have: Everything. Seriously.

My Habit by Amazon is one of the most reliable places to shop discount luxury goods. They carry everything from the lower level luxury brands like Michael Kors, Gucci and Hugo Boss to higher end brands like Tom Ford and Hermes. Most of the items I’ve seen are at least 40% off retail and they’re all new. With Amazon you also have that added security that you know what you’re getting is the real deal because they have a reputation to uphold. They also carry a lot of current season items so you’re not sifting through tons of stuff nobody wants, and you don’t either. Those are my top 5 favorites, that I’ve had personal experience shopping with, but I’ve listed a few more highly recommended sites to check out below:

  • GILT | 30 days free shipping when you sign up + 2% cash back through Ebates
  • HauteLook by Nordstrom | Refer friends get $20 + free shipping $100+
  • Authentic Luxury Goods | Their eBay auctions can lower the price
  • Real Deal Collection | Check the Sale section for even deeper discounts
  • Secret Sales | Get notifications when retailers have sample sales, flash sales, or inventory reduction sales on luxury goods

           Happy shopping and good luck!

How To : Wear a Blanket Scarf

Today’s post is certainly not an original concept. There are more than likely literally 100s of scarf tying tutorials out there… This post is simply to round up my favorites for easy access!
First, you’ll need a blanket scarf. Every year Zara releases a beautiful array of plaid/tartan blanket scarves in the softest of weaves… however, they always sell out very fast (within weeks usually of becoming available online).
For those of you who missed the most popular 2013 style you can now PRE-ORDER it from the Glitter&Bow Goody Bar on Etsy!** I have these available at my wholesale price discount since there’s a 3 week wait. But trust me… you’ll be the envy of all your fashionable friends and followers when they see you snagged one of the season’s most coveted accessories!

Now on to the tying tutorials!
I love this visual photo inspiration board to start us off with some ideas from As you can see, you really don’t want to tie this type of scarf too tightly because of its voluminous size and pretty pattern being hidden!
Here’s a 7-step tutorial for the ‘half tie’ from ClassySassyBlog.
Above is a 6-step photo tutorial from CortInSession for the simple drape that’s probably most popular.
Here is a video tutorial in case all that plaid is making you see double!
Let me know your favorite ways to tie scarves with a comment below!

**As of 9/4/14 the scarf pre-order is closed but check back in November for re-stock!
